Desktop Trading Application for Tier 1 Investment Bank

Our client is one of Europe's largest Investment Banks. We have delivered a desktop trading application for one of their desks. This is a very high profile project and the solution is being rolled out to over 150 traders. The system will provide a single view of trading activity across voice and e-commerce trades, something that was not previously possible at the bank. The application draws in data from a variety of sources-back-end systems within the bank maintained by a diverse set of technology groups based in London, Russia and US. The application delivers a carefully designed user interface to maximise ease of use and efficiency for sales traders. The application includes two main components. The blotter displays trading activity for selected clients, allows traders to manage their own custom client groupings and enables post-trade amendments to be made. The Notifier provides alerts to traders based on alert subscriptions that they set up. The Notifier integrates with the bank's organisation-wide event framework using messaging technology.

Digiterre was selected following a highly successful proof of concept piece of work. The client required a partner that would work closely and collaboratively with their internal technical teams as well as business users on the desk. It was felt that the necessary skills were not available in-house to deliver the solution within the project's tight timescales. Version 1 of the application was delivered in ten weeks with a team of up to seven and Digiterre has continued to work with the client to deliver further enhancement releases since then.

The system was initially prototyped using Microsoft Silverlight and subsequently ported to Microsoft Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) on .Net 4 in order to deliver a very rich user experience.
