For Spotlight Series this month, we hear from Engagement Manager, Helen Chilton, who explains what a typical day looks like and what has surprised her about working the team.
My role at Digiterre is a mixture of Engagement Management and recruitment of our consultants. I spend 70% of my time on engagement management, which entails looking after our consultants out on projects, making sure they are happy and productive, and the client is getting the service they expect and 30% on recruitment of our consultants for projects and our operational roles.
To be honest, there is not a typical day. My day starts with a morning standup, then I have 1-2-1 meetings with the consultants, catch-up meetings with clients, creating consultant profiles, CV screening and interviewing.
It is very mixed. As part of the people team, I work very closely with them on recruitment and engagement management activities, and with PMO, marketing, sales, plus project teams, with very regular contact with our consultants and clients.
I am working with one of our delivery teams on a large market data platform project. We are coming up to a quarterly review and are busy working on a presentation to showcase our joint achievements so far with this client. I am also still involved with the resourcing of our consultants, and as an internal project, we are evolving our EVP and employer branding, which is very interesting and involves lots of internal research and interviewing of Digiterre people to get to the essence of what makes Digiterre such a great place to work.
It is a very visible place to work which I like. It is a place where you can get to know everyone and I would describe the culture as caring, proactive, and fast-paced with an overarching focus on quality.  Because of the nature of what we do, i.e., take on high risk, high profile, and time constrained projects there is a very high technical bar for our consultants, our recruitment process is stringent, and we focus strongly on technical excellence as well as consulting skills
How nice the people are and how much I have learnt. At Digiterre, there is a total absence of ego. It is the most collaborative environment I have worked in, and it has opened up all sorts of opportunities for me. For example earlier this year I completed my PSM 1 which I hope to use in practice soon on an upcoming project.
We have a deep-seated interest in providing excellent technical solutions so clients gain quantifiable benefits from working with Digiterre. They also get an insight into how we look after our consultants and gain a partner rather than a transactional supplier
I have learnt so much since my first day working here. I have always been encouraged to expand my skill set, broaden my professional horizons, and take on new challenges.
Thank you!
