Employee spotlight: Rosy Henderson<\/h1>\n\n

At Digiterre, our people are at the heart of the success of the organization.\u00a0 As part of our new blog series, we are launching\u00a0 a monthly employee spotlight\u00a0 to highlight our outstanding colleagues and what makes each one of them unique. Starting this\u00a0 month, the first employee under the spotlight is our PMO Officer, Rosy Henderson!<\/p>\n \n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n

Can you please describe to us what you do at Digiterre?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

I keep an overview of what\u2019s happening on each of our current client projects, what the state of the finances is, what the resourcing needs are, people\u2019s holiday plans or if they\u2019re off for the day unexpectedly, and keeping in contact with engagement managers to check all going to plan etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On top of this I have a view of all the new projects coming in, and I put together quotes and proposals for them, keeping on top of the paperwork to make sure we\u2019ve got the statements of work and they are correct, and all of the various bits that go with having a project running.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What would be a typical day for you?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Every morning, I have a call at 9.30 with Raj, our CTO and Stephen who\u2019s one of our delivery managers, and at that catch up we check  on where we\u2019ve got to, things that have happened the previous day, what we\u2019re planning on doing that day, and any issues that we have going on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prior to that, I will be checking emails to see what, if anything unexpected has come up, if there have been responses to work I have open especially if I am waiting on other people and any actions on those.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beyond that, it is whatever is going on at the time. For example if it\u2019s month end, I\u2019ll be sorting out timesheets and putting them into more spreadsheets and if it\u2019s not, then there\u2019s usually a proposal or two going on or there will be questions around putting together profiles for new consultants.  All kinds of activity, there is no typical day!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What are you working on at the moment that inspires or excites you?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

I know it\u2019s a bit embarrassing to say but I actually really like spreadsheets! It\u2019s not everyone\u2019s cup of tea but I like them, I find comfort in a spreadsheet!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What inspires or excites me, I quite enjoy getting to understand the process of how, as in how a project goes from a client requesting a bid and us preparing the response all the way to the project actually starting and all of the different things that have to happen at each stage and the sequence they go in, the variety of ways in which clients approach projects or the differences in what they actually want or need from us, it is continuously interesting to see.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEveryone at Digiterre has got something different to offer and there\u2019s space for that, there\u2019s no sort of identikit, if everyone was the same kind of person it would get tiring quite quickly.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

What\u2019s been the highlight so far in your time working with Digiterre? <\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

There have been several highlights, one that\u2019s just popped into my mind, I wasn\u2019t actually planning on saying this but it was the Christmas party last year, it just happened to fall on the same day as I had an orchestra concert so I wasn\u2019t going to be able to make it to the party originally, but then the plan changed to bring the party to my orchestra concert and everyone came along, and it was great.  I was also really nervous but it went okay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thank you Rosy, I didn\u2019t know about the orchestra! What was that then?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019ve played in several orchestras over the years but this current one has been a couple of years and we do four or five concerts a year, this year we were only able to do one just before lockdown and since then, we haven\u2019t been able to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But yes, our Christmas concert tends to be one of the big ones and we put on crowd pleasers, such as the Star Wars music or Harry Potter. And yes, everyone came along and it was good fun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How would you describe the culture at Digiterre?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s very open and respectful, if you\u2019ve got an idea, you can feel comfortable  saying it and know it will be taken seriously, which is nice.  Everyone\u2019s got something different to offer and there\u2019s space for that, there\u2019s no sort of identikit, if everyone was to be the same kind of person it would get tiring quite quickly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So what do you think Digiterre\u2019s values or looks for in candidates?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

I feel like Digiterre looks for people who will be able to deal with interacting with client stakeholders, not just disappear behind their headphones but will actually interact and voice their opinions, people who will challenge and not just be a yes man and say \u201cIt\u2019s what the client wants, that\u2019s what I\u2019ll do\u201d but people who look beyond that and consider, \u201cIs this actually going to work?  Is this actually going to deliver what they believe is going to work, is it what the client wants? is what they are aiming for the best approach or is there a better way around this?\u201d People who are experienced enough and have the right attitude to be able to respectfully discuss those things with clients, people who will get along with colleagues of course and beyond that, a willingness to rub along with people and obviously be good at what they\u2019re doing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Has anything surprised you about Digiterre?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m not sure I would say it\u2019s a surprise but I haven\u2019t really worked anywhere previously that had the same kind of open door, not just policy but real feeling around access to the senior management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If I want to chat to Ian about something, I can just go and chat to him, I don\u2019t have to go through Wendy to make an appointment. I can just get in touch and he\u2019s there, which is really nice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yes, I\u2019d agree with that.  What do you believe that the clients gain from working with us?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

They get the very good quality work that we do for them but beyond that, I think they get a really good relationship, working relationship with us as a team and the support team as well, we\u2019re not just names at the end of an email. I get the impression they feel like we are actual people that they\u2019ve built relationships with and dependable and not just looking at the bottom line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What teams or types of people do you interact with on a regular basis?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

I don\u2019t think there\u2019s anyone within Digiterre that I don\u2019t have fairly regular contact with of some description  The people I speak with most are Raj and Theresa and Stephen, beyond that, the delivery teams and then less often with the sales and marketing side, I do still have interactions with them fairly regularly, and I have fairly regular contact with Gill in the finance team as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My horizons have really broadened and I suppose my appetite for a challenge.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
