Tips For Successful Meetings

Prep your Tech

For all interview stages
do check to make sure
you have a stable internet connection and that the video links sent in your
meeting invite are working
properly. Be sure to test
out your tools, whether
it’s a whiteboard, Google
Drawings or something
you’re planning to screen
share.

Gather Examples

Having an example of a complex project you recently worked on, a time you had a challenge, or a critical piece of feedback you’ve received are all
good things to think about before your meeting.

Prepare for Coding Assignment

If you’re going to be having a coding exercise, spend a few minutes testing out Coderpad to get a
feel for how it works.
https://app.coderpad.io/sandbox and you will be given an algorithm based/
problem solving question.
Your unique Coderpad
URL will be shared with you in the meeting.

Coding Assessment: The architecture section

Think about a recent
project of which you are proud and can sketch out for us. (we use draw.io). We will be interested in hearing about things like user interaction, performance and disaster recovery.

Be Yourself

Be yourself: we place
tremendous value on
authenticity.

Coding And Architecture Assessment Tips

During the coding assessment:

  • Ask clarifying questions.
  • Identify edge cases and proactively test your code.
  • The expectation is more on the articulation rather than the implementation.
  • Think out loud and communicate.

You will also be asked to sketch out architecture

We may use an online drawing tool such as draw.io or Excalidraw.

However please have a pen and paper to hand in case you are asked to sketch architecture manually.

During the architecture assessment, please:

  • Drive the conversation.
  • Provide a broad overview and pick a component you can do a deep dive into.
  • Narrate your thoughts, the pros and cons of each approach.
  • Explain your decisions, why are you making those choices, discuss trade-offs.
